South West Youth Sailing Academy (SWYSA) - 24th Feb 2024

Paignton Sailing Club were proud to host the South West Youth Sailing Academy's recent training event at Paignton Sailing Club on the 24th Feb.   30 youths were split into groups in Toppers, Laser 4.1 or radials.  

The coaching took place on a bright and breezy day with 8-15 knot winds.  Ideal conditions, even if a bit chilly at times! This open event involved both PSC member participants and those from other local clubs.  Our Dinghy Instructors, Isobel and Tom, took part in coaching during the series.  

SWYSA's focus is on developing youth sailing on Saturdays throughout the winter period at sailing clubs across the South West. The SWYSA Winter Race Coaching sessions aim to be fun, friendly and inclusive, and for sailors to enjoy them. Coaching is organised in separate fleets, each with its own dedicated coaches. Participating sailors progress their skills and boat speed over the season.
