On Saturday, sailors from SWYSA (South West Youth Sailing Academy) visited Paignton Sailing Club for the last of the winter's training camps.

SWYSAs focus is on developing youth sailing on Saturdays throughout the winter at various sailing clubs across the South West.  The coaching sessions aim to be fun, friendly and inclusive and for all juniors to enjoy.

The sailors were split into groups of RS Tera, Topper and Laser 4.7 and each group had a dedicated coach and support.  Although the day started off sunny, the gusts and rain soon came in and 30 knots of wind were recorded. Much fun was had by all and for many of the sailors these were the windiest conditions they had sailed in - coaches commented it was great to see so many tired smiles. After a warm lunch in the clubroom, sailors then spent some time learning about nutrition.

Nick Ripley (Sailing Commodore of Paignton Sailing Club) said: "It is always great to see the junior sailors having fun on the water even though it was quite cold and for some quite challenging.  We hope to see SWYSA back at Paignton Sailing Club next winter".
